Conferences for Older People

We organised an Older Peoples’ Conference at the end of October for Chapeltown and the surrounding area. The event was a great success with over 100 local people attending to find out more about services and activities in the local area.

Local organisations and groups came along to the event to tell people about what they do. There was a great variety of stalls at the event ranging from Activity Sheffield to a local history group, South Yorkshire Police and Sheffield 50+.

Some of the great things to come out of the event were Thorncliffe Bowling Club getting new members, lots of people getting up to try new activities such as zumba, Tai Chi and chairobics (chair aerobics) and people finding out how they go to these sessions in the area. People told the team that they would definitely be going out to get involved in things happening in the area.

At the end of the event people asked if the Community Assembly could organise more events like this. We do hope to do more work like this and details of any events will always be here and in Look Local.
