Reducing Social Isolation and Loneliness Fund

Providers from the voluntary and private sectors are invited to apply for this fund which is aimed at supporting older people who are at most risk of becoming isolated and lonely.

Sheffield City Council has made a commitment to invest in organisations which support local communities across the city. We want to encourage your ideas to pilot innovative solutions to help reduce the effects of social isolation and loneliness amongst older people. We are looking for your help to test some early interventions to achieve the following outcomes and provide evidence to inform our future commissioning activities .

Outcomes:

  • Increase social contact
  • Improve sense of self-worth and purpose
  • Maintain independence
  • Build self resilience
  • Improve self-esteem and confidence

How much is available? 

Providers from the voluntary, community and private sector are invited to submit bids costing between £1,000 and £20,000. This is a one-off amount of funding and projects will need to be delivered in the financial year 2012/13.
