Olympic Torch Relay

The Torch arrives in Sheffield on Monday 25th June and we want as many people in Sheffield to celebrate.

All of the timings below are approximate, so spectators are advised to line the route up to an hour early to avoid missing the torch. 

Monday 25 June

 16:45hrs  arrives in Chapeltown:   The route is then Chapeltown Cowley Hill (A629) to Ecclesfield Road (A6135)

17:05hrs arrives in Ecclesfield:  The route is then Ecclesfield Road (A6135), Church Street (B6087), Stocks Hill (B6087), Yew Lane (B6087),Chaucer Road (B6087) and Chaucer Close   

To make sure we can get the Olympic Torch into Sheffield City Centre on schedule, you’ll lose sight of the torch for a short time as the relay team board the bus and go into convoy mode

17:40hrs arrives at Hillsborough:  The route is then Leppings Lane (B6079), Parkside Road (A6102), HillsboroughPark, Parkside Road (A6102), Penistone Road North (A61), Hoyle Street (A61), Brook Hill (A57),Clarkson Street, Glossop Road (B6069), Clarkehouse Road (B6069), Brocco Bank

18:40hrs arrive at Ecclesall:  The route is then Ecclesall Road (A625), St Mary’s Gate (A61), Eyre Street (A621), Arundel Gate (A621),Norfolk Street,Surrey Street,Leopold Street

The torch will then arrive at the evening celebration in Barkers Pool which will run from 17:30hrs to 20:00hrs

 Tuesday 26 June

 The Torch will leave Sheffield on the morning of Tuesday 26th June

07:30hrs the torch departure starts from Attercliffe:  The route is Don Valley Stadium,Leeds Road, Worksop Road (B6085), Attercliffe Road (A6178), Attercliffe Common, Don Valley Bowl,Terry Street, Attercliffe Common (A6178), Sheffield Road (A6178)

The torch will finally leave Sheffield at 08:00hrs via Sheffield Road (A6178)

Hillsborough Park

25th June 2012 – 3pm to 7pm

Be part of a once in a lifetime event and come along to Hillsborough Park and support the 2012 Torch Relay.

 Tuesday 26 June

Don Valley Stadium – 07.00-07.30

  • 300 schools children cheer off torch. They will have breakfast club and sports fun day
  • Entertainment (local bands, dancers etc.)
  • Local Olympians / Paralympians
  • Barnsley Schools athletics day
  • National Eco schools conference at Motorpoint arena
