Come along to the Northern Community Assembly You Choose Events!

You Choose Event

If you would like the opportunity to decide how Sheffield City Council should spend public money in your neighbourhood, then the You Choose event is the opportunity for you to do just that! There is a You Choose Event happening in each ward of the Northern Community Assembly area.

Here are the details for each event:

  • West Ecclesfield Ward (High Green, Burncross and Grenoside) Saturday 25th of June, 12.00 at Miners’ Welfare Hall, Angram Road, High Green.
  • East Ecclesfield Ward (Chapeltown, Ecclesfield and Colley) Wednesday the 6th of July, 6.30pm at Newton Memorial Hall, Cowley Lane, Chapeltown.
  • Stocksbridge and Upper Don Ward (Stocksbridge, Deepcar, Bolsterstone, Wharncliffe Side, Oughtibridge) Wednesday the 13th of July at 6.30pm at The Venue, Manchester Road, Stocksbridge; and
  • Stannington Ward (Stannington, Bradfield, Loxley, Worrall, Dungworth and the rural area) Tuesday the 19th of July, 6.30pm at Lomas Hall,Church Street, Stannington.

The Northern Community Assembly is organising these “You Choose” Events to give all local residents the opportunity to get involved in allocating funding for their community. We really want these events to be for the whole community and an opportunity to celebrate the great work that community groups do.

This is how the event will work. Local community groups will propose ideas for projects they can deliver in their ward area. All the projects will aim to make improvements to or provide a service for the local community.

Everyone living in the ward area is welcome to attend the event and those who are 11 years old and over will be able to vote for the projects that they think will most improve their quality of life and their neighbourhood. The event will last a couple of hours and after listening to all the presentations you will be able to vote for your preferred projects. You must be able to stay for the whole event to be able to vote.

The projects with the most votes will receive money from the Northern Community Assembly to carry out the activities they propose and the winners will be announced at the event.
