More Activities for Young People in the Northern Area

To keep young people busy this half term, the Northern Community Assembly have funded a variety of activities for them to take part in. ‘Activites for Children and Young People’ is one of our key priorities. The organisation of these activities has been coordinated by Julia Triandafilithis and Lisa Casey, the Safer Neighbourhood Officers for the Northern area. Listed here are the activities that are happening this half term:

  • 200 Ice Skating Tickets to allow young people to go to Ice Sheffield. These have been given out through schools and young people’s services like Sheffield Futures
  • A trip for some young people from Yewlands and its feeder schools to go bowling
  • Additional activities such as trampolining and gymnastics at the Activity Sheffield Sports Camps (you can contact Tom at Activity Sheffield on 07837 174217 for further details) and
  • The funding made a contribution towards an Ice Skating Rink for High Green Healthy Fun Day on Tuesday the 22nd of February at Angram Bank Park from 10am to 3pm.

Outside of half term the funding has also gone towards:

  • Sheffield Futures to provide sports activities in the Stannington area from the 12th of January to the 30th of March on Wednesday evenings 5 to 6pm at Hall Park Head (no session in half term)
  • High Hopes to run music & dance sessions in High Green (contact Rachael at High Hopes for more information about this – 07530530515) and
  • Active Regen to provide ‘Virtual to Reality’ Wii Fit sessions for 12 weeks at Hall Park Head Community Centre, Stannington starting on Friday the 4th of March 5.30 – 7pm.

We really hope young people take part and enjoy the variety of activities that are going on this half term. The great partnership working in the Northern Community Assembly area is the reason all these great activities are happening. Our partners include Sheffield Futures, Activity Sheffield, the NHS, South Yorkshire Police, Active Regen and community groups like High Hopes.
