Community Spirit in Action at You Choose Event

It was the turn of the East Ecclesfield Ward to ‘You Choose’ last week. 8 groups received funding for their projects. One of the really great things about You Choose is that it brings all these local groups together and gives them the opportunity to find out about each other and what other groups are doing to improve the area.

There are always going to be some groups who don’t get funding through the You Choose but that doesn’t mean they can’t get something out of it. Ecclesfield School were there to support the bid for the Ecclesfield Arts Festival. The You Choose Event gave them the opportunity to meet the Ecclesfield Priory Players and the Chapeltown Silver Prize Band and now they are going to be involved in the Arts Festival.

Ecclesfield Tenants and Residents Group came along to the event to ask for £300 for transport to take their elderly residents out for a Christmas Lunch. They were unsuccessful on the night but one of the best moments of the event for me was when Ecclesfield School offered their bus to take the residents on their Christmas lunch instead!

It is the Stannington Ward’s turn to take part in ‘You Choose’ on Saturday at Bradfield School, Worrall – signing in from 1.30 to 2pm, event running 2 – 4pm.
